Water installation is nearly complete. Lots with homes on them have had empty water meter boxes installed where the blue flag was placed.
Current projections are to have all of the main line work done by the end of July
State and county inspections follow and are expected to take about 2 weeks.
Home owners will receive an invitation to apply for water hook up some time in August.
Hook-up is optional and will require an application to be filed with the county.
Hook up requires a county permit. Home owners who do not rent out their house can apply to do-it-yourself. The permit cost $23 and is available through Brunswick County Central Permitting office.
Current hook-up rates are $1800 for a 3/4 inch line and $1900 for a 1 inch line.
The fees can be paid off over 12 months with $650 down for the 3/4 inch and $750 down for the 1 inch line plus 12 payments of $95.48 each. Additionally, the billing will include an $11 minimum charge (or $15 for 1 inch line) plus the fees for what ever water is used. Current water rates are 0 to 6,000 gallons - 3.05/1,000 gallons; 6,001 to 20,000 gallons - 3.10/1,000 gallons; and, greater than 20,000 gallons - 3.15/1,000 gallons.
If there is a building on the lot the $11 fee will be charged whether the owner decides to hook-up or not.
